Description
Information from Neil Paterson, Botanic Garden: "The Bandusian Well was built in 1979/1980 and marks where our natural water source enters the Garden. The name comes from one of the odes of Horace, the great Latin poet, and the first lines of his ode in praise of the Fons Bandusiae, the Well or Spring of Bandusia, are inscribed on the Well. The Garden's first Curator, Eddie Kemp, engraved the lettering himself, after taking a course at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. One of the buttresses of the Garden’s northern wall carries the letters “FON” where he practised his new skill."
