Description
Stobswell community project funded by the Hillcrest Foundation and overseen by Dundee City Council’s Central Youth team.
Info from Dundee City Council: "Young people from the Arthurstone Art Group were involved in the design, community consultation and painting of the nature mural on Dundonald Street. The project was delivered through partnership working between Stobswell Forum, The council’s Community Learning and Development Central Youth Team and local street artist Symon Mathieson (aka Syke). This project was funded by the Hillcrest Foundation to make environmental improvements in the local area."
Info from Hillcrest: "The project saw the young people work on a number of ideas for the mural, and present them at a Community Arts Consultation at the Boomerang Centre in Stobswell. Successfully showcasing their ideas and gaining public feedback at the event, the group, consisting of young people from Morgan Academy, also carried out a consultation outside Clepington Primary school. Having then worked to finalise the mural’s design, the young people, guided by Syke, took to their spray cans to create the colourful artwork, which is sustainability themed and depicts a scene featuring birds, butterflies, grass, bees and mushrooms."
