Description
Commissioned by Design Exhibition Scotland and designed by Simon Harlow of Mirrl. The Dixon fountain was named after Dixon Avenue in Govanhill where Mirrl has its workshop. The first Dixon fountain was installed outside South Kensington Tube Station in London as part of London Design Festival in 2021, then went on tour as part of the exhibition Plastic: Remaking Our World, co-curated by Vitra and V&A Dundee. This version (in a different colour scheme) was commissioned by the University of Dundee's Festival of the Future with support from the Lennox Hannay Charitable Trust and installed in 2023.
