Description

Originally on Hunter St, removed when Dalhousie built and resited 2012. Created for Blackness Public Art Programme, and originally promoted in The Courier with the longer title “Bridging the gap between...” and the artist using the anagram Aldron Tinmar. Martin did the welding and grinding of the Corten steel while the fabrication was done at a unit in the old Bullionfield Mills (Scroggie). The artist wanted five Hornbeam trees to be planted in a ring around the sculpture. Speaking to the Courier, he said “It is about the idea of a bridge as well as an image. In one way it is a link between the University and the Blackness Industrial Area. It is a link between the Blackness Programme and the public art of Dundee, and then by reading about it in The Courier, people are forming a bridge with it. It is about communication.”
