Butterfly

Dundee Public Art Programme, funded by Dundee District Council (cost £10,000). Installed 1990 as part of a redevelopment of Dunbar Park – new streets nearby are all named after butterflies. Made of stainless steel fabricated by a local blacksmith sub-contracted by John D Minto & Partners. Made with input from Dunbar Residents' Association Youth Club members. The butterfly wings originally had coloured perspex in them and a mosaic feature was added at the base but removed sometime after 2002 due to damage. When Dunbar Park was developed into a new housing estate in 2020-22 the sculpture was relocated to one of the new streets, Dunbar Terrace.
