Wall plaques (Upper & Lower Dens Mills)

Dundee Public Art Programme. Originally planned in 1988 as a much more ambitious scheme to include a series of artworks in wall recesses along Dens Road from here as far as Sibbald Street, as part of landscaping and unification works funded by Scottish Development Agency (who had become Scottish Enterprise Tayside by the time the two pieces were installed). A limited competition was held which was won by Doug Cocker, who planned to feature several iconic Dundee buildings in various locations along the street. Ultimately it was decided just to use these two, and the other completed pieces were eventually resited in the High Street as The Three Icons (10).
