Close Encounters (Cardean Street mural)

Commissioned by Stobswell Forum & Open/Close Dundee with Hillcrest Housing and paint sponsored by Dulux. Originally planned for the wall on the opposite end of the block, but delayed after one of the flat owners refused to give permission. The artists state that the mural "depicts the stairwell of a traditional Dundee close, rendered in a high key palette. The close felt like a place that functions as a connection between the family, the home and the community, while at the same time being an artefact of Dundee's past." It contains varius local references including a view of Baxter Park seen in one of the windows, swans from the Swannie Ponds and an S for Stobswell.
