Description

One of various public art projects created as part of the Broughty Ferry to Monifieth Active Travel Improvement Scheme with funding from Sustrans. One of three totem sculptures created to hold interpretation panels, this one at the mouth of the Dighty Burn. Info from Differentia: "The concept is based on a sail design which is referencing the maritime heritage of the area. Within this shape are references to local wildlife and iconic images drawn from the past. The structure is made of Corten Steel which rusts naturally in the landscape and changes colour with the weather. Sometimes a rich brown and other times a more reddish tinge. The panels include some lovely historic photographs of the really interesting heritage of the area with castles and windmills, fishing villages and wildlife." Metalwork was created by Differentia, with the interpretation content designed by Stephen Page, Dundee City Council and produced by Tayside Contracts Sign Shop.
