Description
Two small sculptures on plinths near Lochee Medical Practice. Info from Dundee City Council: "These pick up on the relationship that Dundee, and in particular Lochee, had with the Jute industry and the worldwide nature of the trade associated with it. The small boat next to the Jute Globe is a model of the Livie lifeboat, an early Dundee-built self righting vessel. The small boat forms used in the Jute Reel is based on the simple boats once use to harvest jute. The form of these vessels also resemble the shuttles used in the weaving of the jute."
